Project Background:
 The Glacier Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF)-II project aims to mitigate the risks associated with glacial lake outburst floods in vulnerable regions. The project focuses on developing Web portal for disaster related dataset and simulations to enhance understanding, preparedness, and response capabilities.  
Position Programmers
Number of Positions 02
Project Duration: 5 Months (Not extendable)
Monthly Salary Rs. 120,000/-
 
Qualifications and Experience:
We seek a skilled Web GIS Developer with 3-4 years of relevant experience to join our team for an exciting five-month project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing and maintaining web applications.
  • Your Key Responsibilities in this project will be:
  • Designing, developing, and implementing GIS web applications.
  • Integrating GIS services with web applications using APIs.
  • Perform spatial data analysis and visualization.
  • Collaborate with GIS analysts to gather and analyze requirements.
  • Designing and implementing database schemas.
  • Troubleshooting and fixing bugs and errors.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of experience in web GIS development.
  • Proficiency in GIS software and tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript, Python, HTML, and Experience with GIS libraries and frameworks like Leaflet, OpenLayers, or similar mapping library. Familiarity with spatial databases such as PostGIS. Knowledge of web services and APIs (REST).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
 
Position Research Associate
Number of Positions 01
Project Duration: 5 Months (Not extendable)
Monthly Salary Rs. 150,000/-
 
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Graduate degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of post-graduation experience in Advance Hazard modelling, HVRA/MHVRA mapping & assessments particularly in Academic institute, humanitarian/DRR agency or research institute.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of hazard modelling using RAMMS,
  • AGI Meta Shape Professional for drone image processing etc.
  • Good to have understanding about the UAS/UAV for assessment and monitoring of the remote hazards and its modelling.
  • Inquire and clarify all the field related technical data during the field work.
  • Collect data on CGLRVA (Community based Glacial Lake risk vulnerability assessment), compile and analyse the data collected from field.
  • Identify the most suitable intervention in the target villages in terms of GLOF
  • adaptation and mitigation.
  • Modelling GLOFs using RAMMS, good skills in generating point & line-based profile.
  • Use of drones to make 3D models (DTM/DSM) for most vulnerable sites to generate multiple scenarios through modelling.
  • Identify, investigate, map and model all the threatening and vulnerable (GLOF) sites as well as different elements at risk according to modelling results.
  • Based on geographic, physiographic and social and scientific clues identify appropriate Community Based Early Warning System (CBEWS) and prepare communities accordingly.
  • Design and update assessment tools and carry out the assessment of specific sites for risk analysis and risk assessment.
  • Identify, prioritize and select the hazard sites for structural mitigation and assess their capacity.
  • Must have good reporting skills and communication skills.
   
Position Student Assistants

Monthly Salary Rs. 20,000/-
  We are excited to welcome enthusiastic Interns/Assistants to join our team for a dynamic four-month project. This role is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience, allowing you to work in GIS and web development.
  • Qualifications: Basic understanding of GIS concepts and web development. Some experience or coursework in web GIS development/ 3D modeling/Geological modeling.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar. Basic programming knowledge in JavaScript, Python, HTML, and CSS.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a professional setting.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
 
Qualification:
Bachelor's in Geology, GIS, Computer Science, Software Engineering or relevant field or Student of BS RS/GIS or Geology.

  We are excited to welcome enthusiastic Associates to join our team for a dynamic four-month project. This role is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience, allowing you to work in GIS and web development.
  • Qualifications: Basic understanding of CS concepts and web development.Some experience or coursework in web GIS development.
  • Basic programming knowledge in JavaScript, Python, HTML, and CSS.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a professional setting.
Good writing, communication, and teamwork abilities.  
Qualification:
