Dr. Sher wali khan

Prof.Dr. Sher Wali Khan has made sustained contributions to plant taxonomy and floristic inventory, with particular emphasis on the flora of Gilgit-Baltistan and northern Pakistan. His work has documented alpine, subalpine, desert, wetland, cultivated, and wild flora across multiple valleys and protected landscapes. His long association with the Flora of Pakistan project reflects his national-level contribution to plant systematics and biodiversity documentation. A major part of Dr. Khan’s research focuses on ethnobotany, traditional plant use, medicinal plants, and community knowledge in mountain valleys. His work has documented how local communities use wild and cultivated plant resources for health, nutrition, livelihoods, and cultural practices .Dr. Khan’s research extends from plant documentation to applied medicinal plant science. His publications include phytochemical analysis, antimicrobial screening, antioxidant activity, antiglycation and immunomodulatory work, antihypertensive studies, cardioprotective studies, insecticidal and nematocidal bioactivity, and medicinal plant conservation.
